Project 26 in Holmes Run Acres Raises the Roof

Our 26th Holmes Run Acres vertical addition project is quite literally raising the roof on design. Begun with a close look at an existing and cramped kitchen with low clearance ceiling, this project quickly evolved into a full replacement addition. Enlarged living/dining spaces, a relocated open kitchen and new foyer entry will be a game changer for our patient clients.

Clerestory windows bring light and vertical space while artfully framing a wall of beautiful cabinets and stylish yet highly functional, hard working sink counter. What was once a dark and cramped space is now and bright and airy with inspiring and elevated views. The kitchen, now the hub of activity, is soon to inspire warm and inviting gatherings, wafting aromas of simmering goodness and the happy clanking of pots and pans.

Mid-Century Modern “Passive House” Revival Crosses Finish Line

Perched over Rock Creek Park, this 60s modern home has seen a complete revival with “Passive House” renovations. Grounded in sustainability with “smart wall” construction and geothermal HVAC, alterations include a cantilevered library addition, floating stair, stacked stone fireplace, and modern bespoke kitchen.

After 10 months of construction the build is now complete. The clients could not be happier living in their brand new open, light filled, character fueled home. Stay tuned for more photographs to come!
